I don't know if someone already asked about this or if the solution is easier than I thought, but I want to see about upgrading the RAM on my laptop. I noticed I already have 1 RAM slot with 8gb, but I want to take this further and try to add something in the second slot (unused). some sites say I need a special combo, others say it doesn't matter, but all of them are outdated and I don't know if they apply for mine as well. I play high-end video games on my laptop and I want to see if I could make my laptop faster. I feel like it struggles for some games and I have to halve the quality of the games just so I can enjoy the games more. I also noticed my storage drive was a plastic shell and I was wondering how I could give myself a new storage drive. Could someone give me a rough outline for compatible ram upgrades and storage?

The specs of your machine is
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06659931
It has 8 GB DDR4-2933 SDRAM (2 x 4 GB) now. You can upgrade to
16GB: 2x8GB using : https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k8g4sfra32a/ct18860680 (will run at 2933MHz)
32GB: 2x16GB using: https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k16g4sfra32a/ct18860735 (will run at 2933MHz)
64GB: 2x32GB using: https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k32g4sfd832a/ct18860726 (will run at 2933MHz)
You can use 8+16, 32+16 .... but it is not recommended
Regards.

that sounds great! though mine has one 8gb card in a slot, how come it's not a good idea to add a 16gb card? I might get a second 8 instead, but I am curious what the consequences are and if you know any good storage drive, I'm not looking for a lot, just something extra since my laptop only has about 400gb total and I want to make a use from the plastic dummy drive I have on my laptop
