I bought this pc a couple weeks ago, its really good but i find it that the ram bottlenecks the entire pc. At least half of the gb is used at a time, so i want to upgrade the ram to a 32gb, or a 64gb if i find a good price.
My question is what ram is compatible with the motherboard, when i checked the hp support site (this) it says that i can only use the kingston fury series at 5200mhz, so im wondering if that is true. And if it is not, what ram is recommended for my pc (preferably 32gb).
Thanks for your time.

HI @Tropre,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Upgrading your PC's RAM can indeed help alleviate bottlenecks and improve overall performance, especially if you’re running memory-intensive applications. Here's how you can determine the compatible RAM for your HP PC and some recommendations for upgrading:
1. Check Your PC’s Specification
- Verify your exact HP PC model number (e.g., HP Pavilion x360, HP Omen 15, etc.). You can usually find this information on a label on your PC or in the system settings.
- Go to the HP Support website and enter your PC's model number to view detailed specifications and compatible components.
2. Understanding RAM Compatibility
- DDR4 RAM: Most modern PCs use DDR4 RAM. Ensure you’re looking for DDR4 RAM if your PC uses this type.
- Your PC might be optimized for certain RAM speeds (e.g., 2666 MHz, 3200 MHz, or 5200 MHz). Check your PC’s specifications or the motherboard manual for the maximum supported speed.
- Determine the maximum amount of RAM your motherboard and operating system can support. This information is usually found in your PC’s manual or on the HP support site.
3. RAM Recommendations
- If HP recommends Kingston Fury series at 5200 MHz, it’s likely because this RAM meets the specific performance and compatibility requirements for your PC. Using recommended RAM can help ensure stability and performance.
- Compatible Brands: While HP may recommend Kingston Fury, other brands like Corsair, Crucial, G.SKILL, and HyperX are also reputable and can offer compatible RAM. Ensure any alternative RAM matches the specifications provided by HP (speed, type, and maximum capacity).
- 32GB Upgrade: If your PC supports it, upgrading to 32GB can provide a significant boost. Ensure that the RAM is installed in the correct slots to enable dual-channel operation, which can improve performance.
- BIOS/UEFI Update: Sometimes, updating your motherboard’s BIOS/UEFI can improve RAM compatibility, especially if you’re using RAM that wasn’t originally listed as supported.
4. Installing and Configuring RAM:
- Turn off the PC and unplug it.
- Open the case and locate the RAM slots.
- Install the RAM modules by aligning them with the slots and pressing down until they click into place.
Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- After installing the new RAM, enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing a key like F2, F10, or Delete during startup).
- Verify that the new RAM is recognized and properly configured.
Verify in Windows:
- Once your PC boots up, you can check the amount of RAM recognized by Windows by going to Settings > System > About and looking under the "Device specifications" section.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachel571
I didnt recieve a manual for the motherboard when i bought it, so i dont know what is says there. I cant find any copy of it on the internet. So im still in the dark about what the max MHz is. The only thing i have is this and i dont really understand what it says, in my translation it says that it supports up to 5200MHz but it also supports 4400MHz, and that it has 4 ddr4 ram slots. which i find confusing.
The link that i sent of my pc (this one) doesn't include any recommendations about the ram, it says "Memory configuration options" (translated from Swedish using google translate) and it has a bunch of ram from the Kingston fury series next to it. so i think it is alternatives for when you buy the pc. So i still dont know what is the recommended brand or MHz.
Also im wondering what happens if you have 6000MHz when the motherboard only supports 5200MHz, does it still work? does the motherboard cap it at 5200MHz? Also if the motherboard only supports 5200MHz, is there a way to make it use 6000MHz by overclocking or something?
Thanks for your time
