Hello,

I own an HP OMEN 17-db1006nr laptop with the following details:

• Serial Number: 1H853663DC
• Product Number: BK1T7UA#ABA
• Factory-installed SSD: 1TB NVMe M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 (KIOXIA KBG60ZNV1T02)

I would like to confirm the following:

  1. That my laptop supports a second NVMe SSD M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4

  2. That the Samsung 990 PRO 2TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 2280 is compatible

  3. That adding a second SSD does not void the HP warranty, provided no damage is caused and the original components remain intact

The intention is to keep the factory SSD for the operating system and install the second SSD for data and games.

Thank you in advance for your confirmation.

Kind regards,

Hi:

According to the illustration in chapter 5, page 33, you can see the location of the 2 NVMe SSD positions.

Maintenance and Service Guide OMEN 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC Model numbers: 17-db1xxx

You get a better view of this by watching the service teardown video for the older 17-db0000 model series when you look at the beginning where the person removes the bottom cover.

The Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB or any model Gen 4x4 NVMe SSD should work fine as long as it is single sided so that it fits in the SSD slot.

Chapter 5 of the service manual indicates that installing SSD's or memory is a customer-authorized procedure, so off the record, I would assume that you will not void the warranty unless you break something in the process of doing the upgrades.

Do note that if the notebook ever needs warranty service, you must return the notebook to its original hardware configuration before sending it in for service.

I also add that if you are currently living in Greece, the 17-db1006nr notebook would not have warranty coverage in Greece since it was sold for use in the United States and is not covered by a global warranty.

The same exact model 17-db1006nr would have to be sold and supported in Greece, and it is not.

It would have a different model number 17-db1xxx.

Under the HP Global Limited Warranty program, products purchased in one country/region may be transferred to another country/region, where HP or its authorized service providers offer warranty service for the same product model number, without voiding the warranty
