7LG51AV_1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I Purchased(still in shipping} HP Omen 117t (7LG51AV_1) customized with the following:

  • 512 GB Intel® SSD + 32 GB Intel® Optane™ memory
  • 16 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB)
  • Intel® 802.11b/g/n/ac (2x2) Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® 5 Combo(MU-MIMO supported)
  • 17.3" diagonal FHD 144 Hz IPS anti-glare WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080)
  • Intel® Core™ i7 9750H (2.6 GHz, up to 4.5 GHz, 12 MB cache, 6 cores)+NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 2080 with G-SYNC® (8 GB)

I want to add more storage with the 512 SSD with optane memory but HP Sales support said it's not possible, From what i saw on the internet from reviews this machine has one regular 2.5 drive slot and two M2 slots.

Here my chat with HP Sales agent:

Agent: "I have confirmed that this storage is not 2.5 drive or M2. However, it comes with an optane memory technology of 32 GB."

Agent: "However, this comes with the 32gb memory intel optane. It doesn't come with M2 or 2.5."

Me: "Can i install another drive on this laptop with the optane one?"

Agent: "May I know what drive?"

Me: "I am asking so i can buy a suitable one, I prefer a 2.5 rigular one with 2TB Storage."

Me: "But if it's not possible i will buy what i can."

Agent: "I could see here that you can no longer install any customization such as 2TB and 2.5 storage to your laptop since this laptop is not user accesible."

Agent: "Even, with all the customizations that it has . You can't install any on this one."

If adding regular 2.5 drive is possible, What thickness is the maximum? and What type of drive is the 512GB installed?

Thanks.

Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the computer.  You will find the information about the hard drive (HDD) on Pages 35 and 36.  Also, you will find the information on the M.2, SSD's on Pages 32 and 33.  It appears that you should be able to add a standard SSD.  However, I suggest that you don't order the SSD until you receive the laptop to assure that it has the necessary cables to install it.
