I have been having the same problem with both fans stopping as many others have on my Omen 17-ck2002na laptop. I managed to make do for a month by cranking my fans to a constant 3800. It appeared that the fans would stop once the CPU got close to 90c so manually setting the fan to a high speed kept the temp lower and stopped the fans turning off. But now it doesnt help, the fans just turn off under load and its impossible to do anything heavy on the laptop. I have tried everything possible to fix it including everything suggested on the other posts, I'm using a dual drive dual boot system and the fans stop both on Windows and Linux and even in the boot up if I restart the laptop when hot which results in the 90b error. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the fans themselves and this is obviously not a software issue.
I would like to talk to someone at HP about it but I live in the UK where it seems it's impossible to do without paying.

Hi @xPACx,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
You’ve done a great job troubleshooting so far, and your detailed description really helps narrow this down. The fact that both fans stop under load, even in BIOS and across Windows/Linux, and you get a 90B error on restart strongly suggests this is not a software issue, it’s almost certainly a hardware or firmware-level thermal control fault.
Recommended Steps for OMEN 17 Fan Failure (90B Error)
1. Hard Reset
- Disconnect the AC adapter and remove any peripherals.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect power and boot up.
2. Update BIOS & OMEN Firmware
- Go to the HP Drivers page:
👉 Official HP® Support
Enter your model OMEN 17-ck2002na. - Install the latest BIOS update and OMEN Gaming Hub firmware.
- Restart and check fan behavior.
3. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Power on and press F2 repeatedly → HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Run System Tests → Fan Test.
- If the fan test fails, note the failure ID.
4. If Fans Still Stop
- This is a known hardware issue on some OMEN models where the fan controller or thermal sensor malfunctions.
- HP’s official fix is fan assembly replacement or motherboard-level repair.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi, thank you for the reply, and I'm sorry for the delay in responding I've been busy the last few days. Unfortunately I've already tried all of that and it made no difference. Also when testing the fan it completely stopped and my laptop overheated and shut down (I didn't realise the fan had stopped as I was doing other things whilst the test was going).
What do I do about contacting HP to sort this problem out? I live in the UK and the HP contact support page just points to this forum or paying £10 a month.
Thanks again
Paul
