I know to use laptop ram and 8GB but anything important i need to know about upgrading ram such as RAM Speeds(default)?

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,
After reviewing the Product specifications found that your PC was shipped with 8 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB) RAM installed.
In order to check the compatibility, I would recommend you go through the Maintenance and service guide of your notebook.
Here you will find the list of parts which are tested and compatible on your PC.
Please note, it shows that Maximum memory supported is up to 16-GB however, it's non customer accessible or upgradable.
Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following conƭgurations
● 16384-MB total system memory (8192×2)
● 12288-MB total system memory (8192×1) + (4096×1)
● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)
● 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1)

DDR4-2666
● 8-GB 937236-855
● 4-GB L10598-855
Please note, these are the parts which are tested on your PC, If you wish to try other parts you can try it at your own discretion, HP Doesn't recommend any upgrade/downgrade of any hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product.
