Hello,

I’ve been using my HP Victus 16 for a while now and recently noticed that the graphics performance in some of my more demanding applications and games isn’t as smooth as I’d like. I’ve tried adjusting a few settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel, but I’m wondering if there are additional ways to optimize GPU performance and make the most out of my hardware.

Are there any specific driver updates or firmware optimizations I should be aware of for the NVIDIA GPU in this laptop?

What are the best practices for balancing performance and temperature when pushing the GPU? login Illinois Tollway

Any software tools or BIOS settings I should consider to get a little extra performance without compromising stability?

Best Regard,

Nipo

Hi @nipo535darly

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

To optimize your NVIDIA GPU performance on the HP Victus 16, here are some steps and tools you can explore:

Driver Updates

NVIDIA Official Drivers:

  • Download the latest drivers directly from the NVIDIA website to ensure compatibility with demanding applications and games.
  • Use the GeForce Experience software to automatically update drivers and optimize game settings.

HP-Specific Drivers:

  • Check the HP Support website for any customized drivers or firmware updates tailored to your HP Victus 16.

Firmware Optimizations

Game Ready Drivers:

  • NVIDIA releases Game Ready Drivers that include optimizations for new titles and features like DLSS and ray tracing. Ensure these are installed for the best gaming experience.

Performance Tuning:

  • Use the GeForce Experience Performance Tuner to automatically optimize your GPU settings.

Best Practices for Balancing Performance and Temperature

Monitor GPU Temperature:

  • Use tools like MSI Afterburner or HWMonitor to track GPU temperatures and ensure they stay within safe ranges (typically 60–85°C under load).

Adjust Fan Speed:

  • Increase fan speed using software like MSI Afterburner to improve cooling during intensive tasks.

Improve Case Airflow:

  • Ensure your laptop's vents are unobstructed and clean to maintain optimal airflow.

Software Tools for Optimization

  1. NVIDIA Inspector:
    • Provides detailed control over NVIDIA GPU settings.
  2. Power Management:
    • Set the power management mode to "Maximum Performance" in the NVIDIA Control Panel.
