My Omen 17.3 had total drive failure and I installed new drives. They work perfectly but I lost the recovery options. The bios reverted to the simple dos one and I I want the UEFI bios. I have tried every solution offerred by HP but they will not install. The auto detect does not work nor the keyboard. The  sticker on the bottom is too worn to read..

 

Does anyone have any ideas for me to try? I would be most appreciative!

That’s a frustrating situation—losing the recovery options and getting stuck with a basic BIOS is never fun. Since your Omen 17.3 had a total drive failure and the BIOS reverted to a simple DOS interface, it sounds like either the firmware reset or you're dealing with an incomplete installation.

Here’s what I’d suggest to get your UEFI BIOS back and functional:

 

Verify the BIOS Mode

Boot into Windows and check if it’s in Legacy (CSM) mode or UEFI:

Press Win + R, type msinfo32, and hit Enter.

Look for BIOS Mode—if it says Legacy, that’s part of the problem.

 

Check for Secure Boot and UEFI Settings

Enter BIOS (F10 on boot) and look for Secure Boot and UEFI Mode under Boot Configuration.

If it’s missing, you might need to force a BIOS update.

Try a Manual BIOS Update

Since the auto-detect and keyboard method didn’t work, let’s go manual:

Find your exact model.

Download the BIOS manually from the HP website for your specific model.

Reset CMOS

Hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain any charge.
