Pavilion Power 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Long story short, my battery isn't charing to 100%, always stays between 75-80%

I've tried testing it on HP Diagnostics in BIOS, says battery is fine and as long as it's below 75%, also says that AC is fine but if it's around 80% again, gives me a blown fuse and replacement error (42)

The only thing that I did before encountring this problem was making my laptop work as slow as possible to conserve battery. Set both GPU and iGPU to their lowest possible performance and underclocked my CPU to 0.80GHz, lowest possible in Windows. Used it for 3-4 hours, battery was still around 25%. I kept using the computer after plugging it to the AC. After 3 hours or so, I've realized that it had stopped charging.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I've also drained my battery and tried re-charging without powering on the device. While I was draining the battery, it displayed 0% but I was able to use it for another 30 minutes (mostly web browsing)

Update: The value that it charges up to has fallen down to around 70%

Update 2: The value looks like it's increasing while the computer is powered on but not used.

"I would say "Alright, the battery is dead. Let's replace it." but it just doesn't make sense for it to die just because I used it unplugged for a while in forever. "

Sometimes things happen. Even though its under a year old, sometimes a part can go bad for whatever reason.

You need to contact HP Support for the warranty issue asap and get it fixed. I wouldnt wait.

Hello @吹雪月

Sounds like your battery is failing slowly. You didnt mention the full product number of your laptop. Are you still under warranty?

The fuse error is concerning and you will probably have to contact HP Support for warranty issues. You battery will probably have to be replaced.

In the mean time, you could try calibrating the battery again after doing a hard reset...

How to calibrate the battery

Thank you for your response.

It may sound weird but I'm not 100% sure if my warranty is still active or not. But either way, if my battery is dying, I'll get a replacement. But I didn't see a failing battery as a possibility because it says that battery is just over a year old.

I'll try power resetting and calibrating the battery. I'm more leaning on the possibility of a calibration issue, as the device was used really under-powered.

Alright. I've tried power resetting and already had tried calibrating manually yesterday. Sadly, the issue isn't resolved.
