I have a hp omen 15 and the battery only charges when the laptop is turned off.
I have replaced the dc adaptor
I have tried a new battery
I have reset windows
I'm at a total loss here why would the battery function normally when the laptop is off but once it's turned on it behaves as thought the battery is fully charged.
Also my screws on the case broke as I was opening it so the brass hot inserts have broken off so is there anyway to 3d print a new case for the laptop? Any help is greatly appreciated it seems strange why a laptop would just stop charging when in use.
When u disable the battery controller in windows it let's it charge while on but there is no battery status by the bottom right of the screen so I don't know how safe that is.

@Juniorpalmer, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Battery Charging Issue on HP Omen 15!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like you've encountered a challenging issue with your HP Omen 15's battery charging mechanism. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the issue:
Check Power Settings: Sometimes, battery charging issues can be related to the power management settings in Windows. Make sure the power settings don't prevent charging while the laptop is in use. You can access these settings through Control Panel > Power Options.
Update BIOS and Drivers: Ensure that your BIOS and drivers are up to date. You can find updates for your HP Omen 15 on the HP Support website.
Inspect Internal Components: Given that you mentioned the screws on the case broke, it might be worth checking if there are any internal wiring issues. However, be cautious while handling internal components to avoid further damage.
Battery Calibration: Sometimes recalibrating the battery can fix charging issues. You can do this by fully charging the laptop, letting it fully discharge, and then charging it again.
Diagnostics: Run HP Hardware Diagnostics to check if there's any issue detected with the battery or charging mechanism. This tool can be accessed from HP's support pages.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
