Hi @Ekansh4,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • What is the exact model of your HP laptop?
  • When did you first notice this sudden discharge issue?
  • Does the battery drain only after a full shutdown, or does it also happen in Sleep/Hibernate modes?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check Power Settings: Go to Control Panel → Power Options and ensure the laptop is set to shut down completely, not hybrid sleep or fast startup.
  2. Disable Fast Startup: In Control Panel → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do, uncheck “Turn on fast startup.” This sometimes prevents proper shutdown and can cause battery drain.
  3. BIOS Update: Visit HP’s official support website and check if a BIOS update is available for your model. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause power management issues.
  4. Battery Health Test: Run the HP Hardware Diagnostics tool (press F2 during startup) to check the battery’s condition.
  5. External Devices: Disconnect any USB devices or peripherals before shutting down, as they can draw power even when the laptop is off.

I hope this helps.
