Hi @Hello22_11,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error codes you are encountering (0x00000098 and 0x000000f) are related to missing or corrupt Boot Configuration Data (BCD) or critical system files. These issues often prevent the system from booting. Let’s resolve the issue step-by-step.

Check Boot Options

  • Insert a bootable USB/DVD with Windows installation media.
  • Boot from the installation media:
    1. Press the appropriate key (e.g., F9 for HP laptops) during startup to enter the boot menu.
    2. Select the bootable USB or DVD.

Use Startup Repair

  1. Choose Repair your computer instead of Install Windows on the initial setup screen.
  2. Navigate to:
    • Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Repair
  3. Select your OS and follow the on-screen instructions.

Rebuild BCD

If Startup Repair doesn’t work, manually rebuild the Boot Configuration Data (BCD):

  1. Return to Advanced Options > Command Prompt.
  2. Run these commands one by one:

bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd

  1. If /fixboot gives "Access Denied," use these additional commands:

bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup
attrib c:\boot\bcd -h -r -s
del c:\boot\bcd
bootrec /rebuildbcd

Perform CHKDSK

Run a disk check to identify and fix errors:

  1. In the same Command Prompt, type:

chkdsk C: /f /r /x

  1. Replace C: with your Windows drive letter if necessary.

Run SFC

If CHKDSK completes successfully, try repairing system files:

  1. Run the command:

sfc /scannow

Check for Disk Corruption

If the issue persists, your drive might be corrupted or failing:

  1. Run this command:

wmic diskdrive get status

  1. Ensure the status is "OK."

Reset PC (Optional)

If repairs fail, consider resetting Windows:

  1. Boot into the installation media.
  2. Choose Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
  3. Select Keep my files or Remove everything, depending on your preference.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
