HP Omen 17t cb-100
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey there,

I bought an HP Omen 17t-cb100 back in July of 2020. I always knew reached around 80 degrees Celsius when I bought it but now I am concerned. I stopped gaming a while back but average CPU temps are still high. It is now averaging over 90 degrees Celsius just while using Google and the fans are always running very loud. I already tried smart undervolting the CPU through the Omen App to decrease temps and bought a laptop cooler pad to try and help but the CPU still is sitting in the 90 Celsius range just while doing common tasks. I bought compressed air and blew it through the back vents but I have yet to do a deep clean and clean the fans through there. Is there any tips or suggestions to help me out with reducing the temps?

Have you checked in Task manager to see what process is using the CPU the most, and also can you confirm that when you touch the surface of the laptop (where the cpu should be) it would get hot? If it doesnt get hot then it might be the temperature sensor in the CPU. If it is hot then i would suggest to kill the process that is taking up the CPU resources. If that is not the case then i would suggest to re-apply thermal paste to the CPU.

Hope this helps.
