Bios and charging

I have a Pavilion gaming laptop that all the sudden stopped charging while on, but will charge while sleeping or off. I’ve bought a new charger and battery both thinking maybe that would solve it, to no luck. So I did some digging and noticed there’s a bio update that is needed and could be why it isn’t recognizing my charger. But I cannot update the bios without the AC adapter being plugged in and recognized. Any help?

Update BIOS: BIOS updates can sometimes fix hardware-related issues. Make sure to download the correct BIOS update for your laptop model from the official HP website. Follow their instructions to update the BIOS. This might require your laptop to be connected to AC power during the update process.

Check Power Settings:

• Open the Control Panel and go to "Power Options."
• Make sure that the selected power plan is balanced or high-performance, as these modes are optimized for charging and performance.
• Click on "Change plan settings" for the selected plan, then click on "Change advanced power settings."
• Look for settings related to "USB settings" or "Battery," and ensure that USB selective suspend is disabled. Also, check settings related to the battery charging threshold if applicable.

Device Manager:

• Right-click on the "Start" button and select "Device Manager."
• Expand the "Batteries" section, and then right-click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and select "Uninstall device."
• After uninstalling, restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the drivers automatically. This might help refresh the charging process.

HP Support Assistant:

• If your laptop came with the HP Support Assistant software, use it to check for any system updates or hardware-related issues. It can help identify problems and offer solutions.

Reset Power Management Settings:

• Open Command Prompt as an administrator (search for "cmd," right-click, and choose "Run as administrator").
• Enter the following commands one by one:

powercfg -restoredefaultschemes
