Hi,
My Bluetooth functionality keeps disappearing. When I check the driver it says code 45 but my laptop has always had Bluetooth capabilities before this. I have tried lots of things already.
Uninstalling and reinstalling, uninstalling and restarting my laptop and the troubleshooter doesn't pick it up because it tells me that I don't have Bluetooth installed.
Sometimes these do work, but within a couple of days this problem as recurred and I have to go through the trouble of trying all of these things again until something works.
Would greatly appreciate some new advice.
Thank you

Hi @NotLachie
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query.
This error occurs if a device that was previously connected to the computer is no longer connected. To resolve this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.
For the Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A7AV) running Windows 11, I would approach this as an intermittent wireless adapter detection issue, rather than simply a Bluetooth-driver installation problem.
What the Code 45 indicates
When Bluetooth shows Code 45, Windows is essentially reporting that the Bluetooth hardware is currently not connected/detected. This explains why the Windows Bluetooth troubleshooter says that Bluetooth is not installed.
Since reinstalling the driver temporarily restores Bluetooth and the problem returns within a few days, repeatedly reinstalling the driver is unlikely to be a permanent solution.
I would request you to please follow the steps:
Check whether Wi-Fi is affected at the same time
- When Bluetooth disappears, verify whether Wi-Fi continues working normally.
- If both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth disappear, this strongly suggests an issue with the wireless module, power management, firmware, or hardware detection.
- If only Bluetooth disappears, the Bluetooth portion of the wireless module/driver stack should be investigated further.
Check Device Manager
- Right-click Start → Device Manager.
- Select View → Show hidden devices.
- Expand Bluetooth and Network adapters.
- When Bluetooth is missing, note whether the Bluetooth adapter is completely absent, greyed out, or shown with Code 45.
- Please provide the exact name of the Bluetooth adapter when it is working.
Perform an power reset
- Shut down the laptop.
- Disconnect the AC adapter and USB devices.
- Press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the AC adapter and start the notebook.
- Check Device Manager again.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Restart the notebook and repeatedly press F2.
- Run the available Wireless/Network hardware test.
- If Bluetooth or the wireless adapter is not detected by HP's hardware diagnostics while Code 45 is present, this would be important evidence that the issue is occurring below the Windows driver level.
