recently bought an HP Victus 15-fa2705ng laptop without an operating system. I’m trying to install Windows 11 Pro using a bootable USB created with the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft. However, during the installation, I reach a screen that says:

“No drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation.”

I downloaded all available drivers from HP’s official support page for my model and extracted them to the USB. When I try loading them during the Windows setup, none are detected, and Windows still doesn’t see the SSD.

Steps I’ve tried:

  • Used “Load Driver” to point to extracted folders on the USB
  • Disabled “Hide drivers that aren’t compatible”
  • Downloaded and extracted Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology) drivers
  • Changed USB ports
  • Tried different extracted folders
  • Still seeing: “No drives found”

I suspect it’s due to Intel VMD (Volume Management Device) being enabled in the BIOS, but I haven’t confirmed yet how to disable it or whether that would solve the issue.

Goal: Get Windows 11 Pro installed on this laptop and have the SSD recognized during setup.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi:

I have zipped up and attached the Intel storage controller drivers you need for Windows to find the drive.

Unzip and copy all of the files in the folder in the attachment to a USB flash drive.

Have the flash drive and your Windows installation media plugged into USB ports.

Boot from the Windows installation flash drive.

When you get to the screen where no drives can be found, click on the Load driver option, browse to the flash drive with the storage controller drivers on it.

If you check the box, it will only include the compatible driver.

If Windows still can't find the drive, uncheck the box to include the compatible driver and try any of the ones listed.

If those drivers don't work either, try the Intel Gaussian and Neural Accelerator Driver (sp152514) that I also zipped up and attached below:

Hi and thank you, just to explain I bought the HP without an operating system, downloaded windows on my other laptop to a clean usb stick, put the new drive into my freshly unpacked hp, however the hp doesn’t even find any software on the usb stick.

You're very welcome.

Did you try the drivers I zipped up and attached?

They will show up when you are at the screen where Windows cannot find any drives, even if they are not the right ones when you click on the 'Load driver' option.

I left the laptop at work, even though tomorrow is a day off I will be back at the office at 14:00 and test the drivers, do I reinstall Windows 11 instead of Pro on the drive and the add the zip files you attached? Or can you take me through it step by step I would really appreciate that

You can install W11 Pro.

It makes no difference what version of Windows you install, and I have given you the instructions to load the drivers so Windows can find the drive.

That's all there really is to it.

If those drivers don't get Windows to find the drive, unfortunately, I won't be able to help you (because I know that one of those two files I attached is the right one) and suggest you take the PC into a local repair shop and have them install Windows for you.

Thank you, let you know tomorrow what the results were

Good luck.
