OMEN
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good day guys!

I purchased my HP Omen laptop around a month ago and have been very happy with my purchase. However, I've encountered a terrible problem with it.

I put my laptop in the bag that came along with it and placed it in the backseat of my car.

As I got home to use it, I boot it up and was surprised to see that the monitor would only show thick white lines and what looks like a crack on the lower right side (the monitor shows no damage physically though). Rebooting my laptop proved to be of no use.

I badly need my laptop for work.

My warranty says that it's valid for atleast another 9 months.  Is this covered by the warranty? Will I have to shell out for replacement/repair?

Hello doctor1123

The area marked in yellow is from physical damage. It might have been that something pressed against the laptop while you were traveling?

Anyway, HP will not cover that kind of damage. You can certainly contact Support to see what it will cost to fix.

You did not give the full model number, so I cannot look up the screen part number to see if you could order it yourself. But if you are not tech savvy with electronic DIY, then it best to have HP give you a quote.

Thanks for the reply

Dang...  I had a bunch of coworkers ride in the back one of them must've sat on it or something.

Oh and here's the product nunber: Y8H61PA#UUF - or I THINK it's the product number.

Well, tell them thanks a lot.

The HP part number is  752920-014 for a GNRC PNL15.6 FHD AG UWVA 220 eDPSlim KR screen.

Laptopscreen.com is probably the cheapest alternative that's reliable. I've ordered a few screens from them in years past and had no problems.

They give you the choice of glossy or matte.

Here is the manual. The display assembly starts on page 37.

You will have to take the base enclosure off first.

Like I always say, if its too daunting a task, let a pro do it.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
