Omen transcend 14 gaming laptop: grey screen “CMOS reset (502)”. Screen stays pitch black when trying to switch on, while the fans still working. Or at times the grey screen appears but restart button does not work (cursor stays frozen on screen.

Hi @ED12041
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I understand the concern. Based on the details provided for your OMEN Transcend 14-fb0000 showing CMOS Reset (502), intermittent gray screen, black screen with fans running, and a frozen cursor on the restart screen, the behavior may be related to BIOS initialization, CMOS settings, or startup hardware detection.
Please try the following troubleshooting steps:
Perform a hard reset:
- Power off the notebook.
- Disconnect the AC adapter.
- Press and hold the Power button for 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the adapter and power on the system.
Restore BIOS defaults:
- Turn on the notebook and repeatedly tap Esc.
- Select F10 BIOS Setup.
- Press F9 to load BIOS default settings.
- Press F10 to save and exit.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:
- Power on the notebook and repeatedly tap Esc.
- Select F2 System Diagnostics.
- Run:
- System Tests
- Memory Test
- Storage Test
- Note any failure IDs that may appear.
Perform BIOS recovery:
- Turn off the notebook.
- Press and hold Windows + B.
- While holding the keys, press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds, then release the Power button while continuing to hold Windows + B for several more seconds.
- If the BIOS recovery screen appears, follow the on-screen instructions.
If the notebook occasionally reaches Windows:
- Connect the AC adapter.
- Install the latest BIOS available for the OMEN Transcend 14-fb0000 from HP Support.
- Restart the notebook after installation.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
