Hello, I have bought a brand new HP Omen laptop 3 days ago and a very disturbing thing I noticed is that while gaming the cpu tempertature reaches 90C and hovers between 94C and 97C and the gpu also reaches its 80s. I have used the Omen command center for these results. I have searched the internet and any solution they say does not apply as it is brand new there can be no dust accumulation and the vents have ample space that I made sure of. I know that a gaming laptop reaches high temperatures but isnt 97C a bit too much I am very worried about this should I get a replacement or are these temperatures ok.

So I found the solution. Two things were causing those temperatures.
1. Turbo boost, I disabeled that and had considerable drops approximately of 10C.
2. The surface I kept it on was wrong, I now keep it on a glass surface.
After doing those two things the tepmerature hardly corsses 85C and I can play most games around 70C.
I realize this is a very late answer but it took me this long to find out the problem.

This issues is very common. WHen you try and pack all that computer into a little chasis heat is always going to be an issue. Im sure HP doesnt recommend this but i would consider changing thermal compounds. How hot is the room you game in ? Does this Laptop have a fan profile on it ?

I dont know about the fan profile but the temperature is about 32C also if this is a common problem I dont need to be worried about it right and its not a fault with the laptop.
Also my specs are gtx 1050ti, i7, 16 gb ram. I though that might help.

In my opinion you have a few options.
1. try locking you fps at a certain number for example if i am playing bf4 getting 120 fps i can drop it down to lets say 90. This will help make your PC not work so hard to produce these kind of fps
2. you can try to repaste your laptop which if you dont know what you are doing can be risky

No I dont know how to repaste I have read a lot about it but I thought since its new it would not require a repaste this early and the problem must be something else.
The only game who's fps I have tracked are dota 2 and skyrim special edition.
For dota the fps starts of with 120 but in game drop to 70-80. I could drop that to 60 if you say thats preferable and see what happens.
As for skyrim the fps stay constant at 58-60.
In both cases though the the temps remain the same.

Thank you for the help I did drop the fps from 120 to 60 and the temp whent down from 95 to 89.
Just the last thing I want to confirm as you say that other people are getting similar temps and this is a common problem does that mean I should not worry and play. I am only uncomfertable because I am worried.
I will try to get a replacement though.
Thanks again 🙂
