Hi @Manoses,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing high CPU temperatures while gaming, especially with a powerful laptop like the Omen 17 with an Intel Core i9-12900H processor, can be concerning. Here are some steps you can take to address this issue.

Check for Dust: Over time, dust can accumulate inside the laptop and clog the cooling system. This can reduce the effectiveness of the cooling fans and lead to higher temperatures. Open your laptop carefully or take it to a professional to clean out any dust.

Update Graphics and CPU Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers for both your CPU and GPU. Manufacturers often release driver updates that can improve performance and thermal management.

Laptop Cooling Pad: Using a cooling pad can help improve airflow and reduce temperatures by a few degrees.

Power Settings: Check your power settings to ensure you are running the laptop in a high-performance mode while gaming. Sometimes, laptops limit performance to save power, which can lead to higher temperatures.

BIOS/UEFI Update: Check if there's a BIOS/UEFI update available for your laptop. Sometimes, HP release updates that improve thermal management.

Undervolting: Undervolting the CPU can help reduce heat generation. However, this may void your warranty and should be done carefully.

Game Optimization: Ensure that the game is running in a mode suitable for your system. Lower the in-game graphics settings to reduce the load on your CPU and GPU.

Background Processes: Close unnecessary background applications and processes that might be consuming CPU resources while you're gaming.

Cooling Pads and External Cooling Solutions: Investing in a high-quality cooling pad or even an external cooling solution can help dissipate heat more effectively.

It's worth noting that high temperatures can sometimes be normal during heavy gaming sessions, but reaching 90 degrees Celsius with only 2-5% CPU utilization is still unusual. Addressing the above points should help improve the situation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
