Ok, so I have been playing alot of CS:GO for a while, and about a month or so ago my fps (which would typically be between 200-300 fps) would drop to 20-60 and stay there. Its not my game setting either because i have them set to low to maximize fps. I have tested other games and the same thing happens, i get great fps for a while then it jumps to 20-60 fps. Thinking it would be something messing up in the software I tried to shut down my computer and turn it on again, but it did not work. My computer science professor at my college suggested I remove the bottom cover and use an air duster to clean out the fans because of possible cpu overheating. I also dowloaded a CPU temperature measurment program and during the fps drops it had not even gone above 35 degrees celcius. My fps still drops making my games unplayable. If you have any ideas please let me know.

You are playing with the AC charger plugged in correct?
What AC charger came with the laptop, is it the 120 Watt adapter as per the specs?
If so, the laptop was sent with the wrong adapter. At the time, the 965m graphics card was confused with the 960.
The 965m needs more power (150 watt) and that's why games fps drops.
Its a known issue and discussed many times here on the forum. HP knows about it and has replaced the power adapter for owners if they will contact HP Support and make a claim.

@TheBleu, welcome to the forum.
I suggest installing the latest driver from nVidia to see if that solves your problem. I just saw a post from one of HP's Tech that said the 390.xx driver was slowing his computer to a crawl while gaming.
