Hello @Jacky011 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

If the camera driver on your HP laptop appears to be missing or not functioning, here are some steps to help resolve the issue:

  1. Check Device Manager:

    • Navigate to Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting "Device Manager."
    • Look under the "Cameras" section. If it's not listed, check under "Imaging devices" or "Other devices."
    • If there's an exclamation mark next to your camera, it indicates a driver issue.
  2. Update Camera Driver:

    • Right-click on the camera device in Device Manager and select "Update driver."
    • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software" to let Windows find and install the latest driver.
  3. Reinstall the Driver:

    • If updating doesn't work, try uninstalling the driver. Right-click on the camera device and select "Uninstall device."
    • Restart your laptop, and Windows should attempt to reinstall the camera driver automatically.
  4. Download from HP Support:

    • Visit the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads website.
    • Enter your laptop model (e.g., Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000) and look for available camera drivers compatible with your operating system.
    • Download and install the appropriate drivers manually.
  5. Run Windows Update:

    • Ensure your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes, camera drivers are updated through Windows Update.
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select "Check for updates."
  6. HP Support Assistant:

    • Use the HP Support Assistant tool to automatically find and update drivers. This can be downloaded from HP's official site if it's not already installed on your laptop.
  7. Check Privacy Settings:

    • Ensure that the camera is enabled under Windows privacy settings.
    • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and ensure that camera access is turned on for your device and apps.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, contact HP Support for further assistance as it might be a hardware-related issue that requires professional diagnosis.
