About a year ago, my webcam on my HP Victus laptop stopped working. I tried all the troubleshooting tips I could find with no results. I ended up uninstalling the driver and, after restarting, was not able to get it back no matter what I tried. Is there anyway I can reinstall the driver?

Hi @Sqm1ch,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To reinstall the webcam driver on your HP Victus Gaming Laptop 15, follow these steps.
Using Device Manager
Open Device Manager:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager from the menu.
Scan for Hardware Changes:
- In Device Manager, click on the Action menu and select Scan for hardware changes. This might help Windows detect the webcam and reinstall the driver automatically.
Manually Update Driver:
- If the webcam appears under Imaging devices, right-click on it and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Using HP Support Assistant
Download and Install HP Support Assistant:
- Go to the HP Support Assistant page and download the software.
- Install and open HP Support Assistant.
Check for Updates:
- HP Support Assistant will automatically detect your laptop and check for any missing or outdated drivers.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install any available updates, including the webcam driver.
Download Driver from HP's Website
Visit the HP Support Website:
- Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads.
Enter Your Laptop Model:
- Enter your laptop model (Victus By HP Gaming Laptop 15) and press Enter.
Select Your Operating System:
- Choose your operating system from the list provided.

Download the Camera Driver:
- Look for the Driver-Keyboard, Mouse, and Input Devices section or similar.
- Download the camera driver and install it by following the on-screen instructions.
Use Windows Update
Open Windows Update:
- Press Win + I to open Settings and go to Update & Security.
Check for Updates:
- Click on Check for updates and let Windows install any available updates. Sometimes, driver updates are included in Windows updates.
Re-enable the Camera
Check Privacy Settings:
- Press Win + I to open Settings and go to Privacy > Camera.
- Make sure the camera access for the device and apps is turned on.
Enable the Camera in BIOS:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F10, Esc, or Del during startup).
- Look for an option related to the camera and ensure it is enabled.
If none of these methods work, it's possible there might be a hardware issue with the webcam.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Like I said, it's been a year. I've already tried all these methods many times. The device manager doesn't find any hardware changes, the support assistant detects no camera drivers missing, and the camera driver is not in the list of drivers to download on the website.
