I openned device manager camera drive wasnt showing I pressed show hidden drivers I finally found the camera driver and then the model hp smth wide camera and I pressed unistall driver and restart laptop, upon re openning my laptop and device manager i cannot find the camera drive anymore. I have tried installing different drivers and the sfc /scannow trick aswell. I'd prefer to try solve it at home before going to harvey norman or JB-hi-fi to solve my issue

Hi @Nav43,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering issues with your camera driver not being detected or displayed in Device Manager, even after uninstalling and restarting your laptop. Here are some steps that might help resolve this issue:

Reinstall Drivers from HP Support:

Update Device Drivers:

  • Ensure your laptop is connected to the internet.
  • Open Device Manager.
  • Click on Action > Scan for hardware changes.
  • Check if the camera driver appears again or gets automatically installed.

Use Windows Update:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click on Check for updates to ensure all system drivers are up-to-date.

HP Support Assistant:

  • Use the HP Support Assistant tool available on your HP laptop. It can automatically check and install any required drivers.

Physical Check and Connections:

  • Verify that the camera is not disabled via any physical switch or key on the laptop keyboard.

BIOS Update/Check:

  • Restart your laptop, enter the BIOS settings, and ensure the camera is not disabled.

  • Check if your BIOS version is up-to-date. An outdated BIOS may occasionally cause hardware recognition issues.

Reinstallation of the Operating System (Last Resort):

  • If all else fails, consider reinstalling your operating system as a last resort. Ensure you back up your data before proceeding with this step.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
