Hi @ShameemKhan,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand that your camera is not detected in Device Manager, and you're receiving an error when trying to open the Camera app. I'll be glad to help.

To better assist you, could you please share the exact HP notebook model and reattach the screenshot if it wasn't uploaded successfully?

In the meantime, please follow these steps:

  1. Check the camera privacy switch or privacy shutter first
    • If your notebook has a physical camera privacy shutter, make sure it is open.
    • If your notebook has a camera privacy key on the keyboard (usually marked with a camera icon), press it once to ensure the webcam is enabled.
    • Some models also have a side privacy switch that can disable the camera. Please make sure it is in the ON position.

  2. Verify camera permissions in Windows
    • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
    • Make sure Camera access is turned on.
    • Also, ensure that Let apps access your camera is enabled.

  3. Run Windows Update
    • Install all available Windows updates, including any optional driver updates.

  4. Check Device Manager
    • Open Device Manager and select Action > Scan for hardware changes.
    • If the camera appears, try updating or reinstalling the driver.

  5. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
    • Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to perform the Webcam Test and check whether the camera hardware is detected correctly.

For the complete HP troubleshooting guide, please refer to the official document: HP PCs - "We can't find your camera" error is displayed in Camera app in Windows 10 | HP® Support

Once you've completed these steps, please let us know:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
