Hi @Cliff95

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the details. I understand that on your HP Victus 15-fa1000, the camera intermittently turns off and back on by itself, even after reinstalling the driver, disabling/enabling the device, performing Windows updates, an in-place upgrade, and checking battery settings.

Since the software-related actions have already been completed, please try the following checks:

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Power it on and repeatedly tap Esc, then press F2.
  • Run the Component Tests > Camera Test (if available).
  • Note any failure ID or test result.

Check the camera in HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI and Windows Camera app:

  • If the camera flickers in both environments, it can help determine whether the behavior is occurring outside Windows as well.

Reset the camera driver completely:

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand Cameras.
  • Right-click the camera device and select Uninstall device.
  • Check "Attempt to remove the driver for this device" if available.
  • Restart the PC and allow Windows to reload the device.

Update BIOS and chipset firmware:

  • Install the latest BIOS and system firmware available for your exact Victus 15-fa1000 model from HP Support.
  • Restart the system after the update completes.

Perform a hardware reset:

  • Shut down the notebook.
  • Disconnect all external devices.
  • Hold the Power button for 20 seconds.
  • Start the notebook and test the camera again.

Test in Safe Mode with Networking:

  • If the camera remains stable in Safe Mode, a background application or service may be affecting camera operation.

If the issue continues, please let us know:

  • Does the camera disappear from Device Manager when the issue occurs?
  • Do you see any error message in the Camera app?
  • Is the camera flickering only in specific applications (Teams, Zoom, Discord, etc.) or also in the Windows Camera app?
  • What is the current BIOS version installed on the notebook?

These details will help us identify the next appropriate troubleshooting steps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Regards,
