HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-ec2000 (2P6B1AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

A month ago my HP Pavillion Gaming laptop started making loud noises, which I assume comes from the fans. This only occurs when it is plugged in (I assume because it is running on higher performance) and only rarely when it is on battery. Doing intensive activities like playing any recent game makes it heat up so much 80-90 degrees C which might not be that much but even running Microsoft word and light browsing takes it to 70 deg C. Running relatively heavy games like Apex and high-population MMOs like Guildwars 2 makes them unplayable as the fps sticks to 10. Running dota 2 sometimes drops it to 10 fps as well for 30 seconds or so every now and then.

Contacted a friend who told me that it might be a problem with dirty internals and/or thermal paste that needs repasting or something.

I checked my product on HP site and even though the factory warranty is expired, the HP Care Pack is still active. Can this be used for cleaning/repasting/possible repairing of my laptop?

Thank you very much.

Welcome to the HP Community --

Care Pack contracts differ by design and purpose.

What is covered by the contract on your machine is something you should discuss with HP Support.

Reminders - READ

Case submission to HP Support is available to those whose devices registered and are still in Warranty.

Some regions display phone / chat contact information only after the case is submitted online

Not every issue is covered under the standard Hardware Warranty.  Purchased Care Pack Warranties differ by contract.

HP is not a "general" repair facility: Requests for out-of-warranty repairs are usually not accepted.

If the problem is hardware, if your device is in Warranty, if your device is Registered, and you cannot submit your case to Support, let us know and we will forward a request.

Important

HP Phone numbers you find on the Internet have likely been hijacked. Old HP phone numbers – for example, those numbers no longer used by HP since the move to “online” case submissions – might have been taken over by thieves.

Do not be a victim.

Stay vigilant.
