Update:
Happy to report that I have installed a 32gb stick along with existing 16GB stick making a total of 48 GB and its working perfectly fine. Did bios memory tests and all other integrity tests I could find and it all passed.
Even though the system reported its max support is 32gigs, apparently it can support 64 Gigs in practice. So the crucial memory test repost is infact the correct one in the end.
After searching for answers, it appears that modern processor memory controller is in CPU and that decides max ram capacity. A single channel of i7 can support 64GB and each channel can be split into two slots. So, even if the ports in laptop are not dual channel, it can still support 64gigs. If dual channel, 128gigs. I think my laptop is dual channel, but non ecc ram sticks max out at 32gigs per slot currently as I understand, so the max capacity of my laptop is 64gb. But I have seen some cases where the sone laptop motherboards just shuts out the other ram if it exceeds capacity from some forums.
In Abstract, most*** laptops should be able to handle 2x32 GB RAM. Stick it in and see if it works if there is a return policy on RAM. Crucial memory report looks to be trustable in my case.
Thanks for the help!!

Hi:
The Crucial memory report indicates that you can.
HP - Compaq Pavilion Gaming 15-dk1509tx | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com
The service manual on your notebook model series' support page indicates the max is 2 x 16 GB.
HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-dk1509TX (3X8X3PA) - Setup and User Guides | HP® Support
You can run this command to see how much memory your notebook can support:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Thanks for the quick response 🙂
I ran the command and it looks like it only supports max 32GB . looks like the crucial report is wrong and the HP user guide is correct in this case.
Should I try sticking in a 2x32GB stick and see if it does anything or can I trust the command output and go shopping for a new laptop that supports 64GB RAM then? How do I find laptops that are upgradable to 64 GB RAM?
Thanks in Advance.

You're very welcome.
If you can return the 32 GB memory chip if it doesn't work, then you may as well give it a shot.
I wouldn't buy two.
I'd buy one, leave the other 16 GB memory chip installed and if the PC boots up, works fine and reports 48 GB of memory, then it would very likely be safe to add the second 32 GB chip.
Intel indicates the processor can support 128 GB of memory.
That is probably in a mobile workstation that has 4 memory slots.
