I recently tried to hook up my laptop to an external monitor, only to find that the monitor was receiving a signal, but the laptop was not. In other words, the image on my laptop would not project onto the monitor's screen. I suspected a driver issue, so in device manager, I noticed that my Radeon graphics was in use, but the NVIDIA graphics driver was grayed out. I attempted to delete the grayed driver and download a new one, but when I tried to download the driver, the NVIDIA Control Panel told me that the drives could not be installed because there was no NVIDIA GPU detected. My model is supposed to come with integrated graphics (which is the working Radeon one) and dedicated graphics (the missing NVIDIA driver). Any help?

Hi @Levi450,

Thank you for the response.

I understand your OMEN 15-en0013dx laptop is not detecting the NVIDIA GPU and the HDMI port is not working. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check graphics settings in BIOS
Restart the laptop and press F10 to enter BIOS.
Make sure Hybrid or Switchable Graphics is enabled and the system is not set to Integrated/UMA graphics only.

Restart and check Device Manager
Open Device Manager and select View > Show hidden devices.
Look under Display adapters and System devices to see if NVIDIA appears with an error or as a hidden device.

Install drivers in the correct order
First install the AMD chipset driver, then the AMD Radeon graphics driver, and reboot.
After that, install the NVIDIA graphics driver from the HP support page for your model.

Verify Windows is not blocking the device
In Device Manager, check if any NVIDIA entry shows an error code such as Code 43 or Code 45.
Error codes usually indicate driver or device initialization issues.

Run HP hardware diagnostics
Restart the laptop, press Esc, then F2 to open diagnostics.
Run the Video or Graphics test to confirm whether the NVIDIA GPU is detected at the hardware level.

Test external display behavior
Note that on this model, the HDMI port is routed through the NVIDIA GPU.
If the NVIDIA GPU is not initializing, HDMI output will not work even though the laptop screen does.

I hope this helps.
