Hi @sk288, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the issues you are facing post BIOS update!
Here are a few steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue:
1. Roll Back the BIOS Update (If Possible)
Since the problem started after a BIOS update, rolling back to the previous version could help.
Check if your BIOS allows rollback:
- Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS.
- Look for an option like "Rollback BIOS" or "Previous BIOS Version".
- If available, select it and follow the on-screen instructions.
Manually flash an older BIOS: If the rollback option isn't available:
- Go to HP’s support website and find your laptop’s previous BIOS version.
- Download it and use the HP BIOS Update tool to reinstall it.
2. Reset BIOS to Default
If rolling back isn’t possible, try resetting the BIOS settings:
- Enter the BIOS by pressing F10 on boot.
- Find the Restore Defaults or Load Optimized Defaults option.
- Save and Exit.
3. Update Drivers (Especially GPU)
The BIOS update may have interfered with drivers. Update them manually:
GPU Drivers:
- Open Device Manager (Press Win + X → Select Device Manager).
- Expand Display Adapters.
- Right-click your NVIDIA/AMD GPU → Update driver → Search automatically.
(Alternatively, download the latest drivers from NVIDIA/AMD’s website.)
Chipset & Other Drivers:
Download and install updated chipset drivers from HP’s official website.
4. Check Windows for Corruption
Run these commands in Command Prompt (Admin):
- SFC Scan (System File Checker)
sfc /scannow - DISM Repair
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Restart your laptop after running these.
5. Test RAM and Storage for Errors
If crashes persist:
Memory Test:
- Press Win + R, type mdsched.exe, and press Enter.
- Select Restart now and check for problems.
Storage Health Check:
- Open Command Prompt (Admin).
- Type: chkdsk /f /r
- Restart your laptop and let it scan.
6. Reinstall Windows (Last Resort)
If nothing works, a clean Windows reinstall may fix deeper issues caused by the BIOS update.
