Hello everyone, I'm hoping to get some help with a specific keyboard issue on my OMEN by HP Gaming Laptop- wf1xxx. The Caps Lock key works perfectly (it toggles between upper and lower case), but the small LED indicator light on the key itself no longer turns on (it should show a white or color-specific light).

I understand your OMEN by HP Gaming Laptop’s Caps Lock key works, but the indicator light doesn’t illuminate. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Restart the Laptop

A simple restart can reset the keyboard’s firmware and lighting control.

After restarting, check if the Caps Lock indicator light turns on.

Check OMEN Light Studio or HP Command Center

Open OMEN Light Studio or HP Command Center.

Ensure that the keyboard lighting profile isn’t disabling the Caps Lock LED.

Try switching to a default lighting theme to test.

Update BIOS and Drivers

Go to HP Support Assistant or HP’s official driver page for your model.

Update the BIOS, keyboard driver, and OMEN software to the latest versions.

These updates often resolve firmware or lighting communication issues.

Power Reset the Laptop

Shut down the laptop completely.

Disconnect the power adapter and any external devices.

Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to discharge residual power.

Reconnect the adapter and power on the laptop.

Test in BIOS or Safe Mode

Restart your laptop and tap Esc → F10 to enter BIOS.

Press Caps Lock in BIOS; if the light still doesn’t turn on, the issue is likely hardware-related.

If it works in BIOS, a Windows driver or software setting might be interfering.

Reset Keyboard Backlight Settings

Press Fn + F4 (or the key with a keyboard icon) to toggle backlight modes.

Try cycling through the lighting settings to check if the Caps Lock LED responds.

I hope this helps.
