Hello. I recently bought an Omen laptop. I was under the impression that you could alter the backlight color. The continuous red is a bit over the top. Can we change this? The only information I have found online relates to Windows 8 and 15" versions. Thanks.

This model doesn't have HP Omen Control, and I have not seen a legitimate HP download link. I am not even sure at this point if they are putting HP Omen Control on laptops. Continuously staring at red lighting probably won't work for me. I want to use this professionally. I am not really a gamer, but I wanted the best options on a laptop. And this one had the highest upgrades -- for a better or same price as the Envy. But I don't want to sit in meetings with red lights filling up the room.

Well one option would be turning off the backlight, this can be achieved by following the instructions below:
Simply, press and hold the FN (function key) and F5 key together. then release.

I'm having the same problem!! I'm a long time HP user and I want to buy an HP Omen Laptop with a 17" screen and Windows 10. However, I went to Best Buy and they said that the newer models don't come with HP Omen Control and that there's nothing that's downloadable that's able to change the backlight. That's highly inconvenient and a reason not to go for an HP Omen laptop, whereas otherwise I would definitely get it. Does anyone know what's going on? Or does anyone know if it's definitely not possible to change the backlight on the newer models?
Tony, did you find out anything? Thanks, everyone.

If you want to turn off the backlight, just hit F5 without hitting FN, hitting FN will enable the actual action for F5
as for your HP OMEN CONTROL problem, i had this too when i purchased mine, first off, i never have a red light flashing into the room problem as the keys are designed to remnate light at YOU and not anyone else. However, OMEN CONTROL is still available for download

It would appear this option isn't available on some models.
