@ATHUL777, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A sudden drop in battery percentage from 100% to 94% on your HP Victus gaming laptop can be concerning. Let me explain why this might happen and how you can check if everything is working as expected.
Why This Happens
- Battery Calibration & Reporting: When the battery reaches 100%, the system may still be adjusting the actual charge level. A drop to 94% could be due to recalibration or a slight overestimation of the full charge.
- Battery Wear: Over time, batteries lose capacity. If your laptop is not brand new, this could be a sign of normal battery wear.
- High Power Usage: Gaming laptops like the HP Victus have powerful components that can draw significant power, especially if background processes or updates are running.
Steps to Diagnose and Resolve
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics:
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Select Component Tests > Battery and run the test.
- This will give you a battery health report.
Check Battery Report in Windows:
- Press Windows + X > Windows Terminal (Admin).
- Type: powercfg /batteryreport and press Enter.
- The report will be saved to C:\Users\[YourUsername]\battery-report.html. Open it and check the Design Capacity vs Full Charge Capacity.
Update BIOS and Drivers:
- Visit the HP Support Page and enter your laptop model.
- Download and install the latest BIOS, chipset, and power management drivers.
Battery Calibration (Optional):
- If the issue persists, calibrating the battery can help. HP Notebook PCs - Testing and calibrating the battery (Windows) | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
