Hello @coolguy324r34 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community!

Experiencing a buzzing noise from the charger of your Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 can be concerning. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

  1. Inspect the Charger:

    • Check for any visible damage or wear on the charger, including frayed cables or missing plastic parts.
    • Ensure the charger is properly plugged into the power outlet and the laptop.
  2. Change the Power Outlet:

    • Try plugging the charger into a different power outlet to see if the buzzing persists. The issue could be related to the electrical supply from a particular outlet.
  3. Use a Reliable Power Source:

    • Ensure that the power supply is consistent and stable. Avoid using extension cords or power strips with multiple devices, which could cause interference.
  4. Environment Considerations:

    • Electrical interference from other devices, such as fluorescent lighting or large appliances, might cause the charger to buzz. Move any such devices away from the charger if possible.
  5. Check the Laptop Setup:

    • Ensure the laptop's power port is not obstructed or damaged and that it securely connects with the charger.
  6. Temperature Check:

    • Ensure the charger isn’t overheating during use, as this could affect functionality. Ensure it's positioned to allow airflow, free from obstructions.

If the Buzzing Persists:

If the issue continues after attempting these troubleshooting steps, it could be a sign of a defect or failure within the charger or laptop itself. It's recommended to take the following actions:

  • Contact HP Support:

    • Seek assistance from HP Support. They can provide guidance or recommend service options if the charger needs to be repaired or replaced.
  • Check Warranty:

    • If your laptop and charger are under warranty, consider requesting a replacement through HP's warranty service.

For safety reasons, it is recommended not to continue using a charger that is making unusual noises, as it may pose a risk of damage to your laptop or present a safety hazard.
