Charging via USB-C

Hello!

I see that my laptop have an USB-C with Power Delivery. I have specified powerbank for notebooks, which works perfectly fine with other laptops (giving up to 96W), but in this laptop not. Powerbank charge only for few seconds and then my laptop starts to charge powerbank. How can i change that? 
Second guestion - i have GaN charger 100W, which should give that power on 1 output - and it works, like in powerbank case, with all other laptops. With this Omen it works only with about 50W, and i have notification from windows about slow charging port. How can i change it?

It's not powerbank or charger issue, because it works at least in 3 different cases, so i think that some setting or driver could change it.

I understand that your OMEN 16 16-ap0000 (BL6K2AV) recognizes USB-C power, but your 96W power bank charges the laptop for only a few seconds before the laptop begins supplying power back to the power bank. You also have a 100W GaN charger, but Windows reports slow charging, and the laptop appears to draw only around 50W.

The behavior you're describing does not necessarily indicate a Windows driver or setting problem. USB-C Power Delivery (PD) requires the laptop and power source to negotiate a compatible power profile. The laptop may also limit USB-C charging based on its hardware and current power requirements. The dedicated 230W AC adapter is designed to provide substantially more power than a USB-C source.

Check the USB-C charging behavior.

1. Update the BIOS and HP drivers available specifically for your OMEN 16 16-ap0000 (BL6K2AV) through HP Support. Firmware updates can address power management and USB-C compatibility issues.
2. Shut down the OMEN completely and connect the 100W GaN charger while the laptop is powered off. Check whether the battery begins charging normally in this state.
3. In Windows, check Settings > System > Power & battery for available charging or power-management options. Avoid changing BIOS power settings unless an HP-supported option is specifically provided for this model.
4. Test the 100W charger when the battery is below 50% and the laptop is idle. Under gaming or other heavy workloads, the laptop can require considerably more power than a 100W USB-C source can provide.

Why a 100W charger may not deliver 100W

A charger being rated at 100W does not mean the OMEN will necessarily draw 100W through USB-C. The actual charging power depends on the USB-C PD profiles supported by both devices and the power level the laptop is designed to accept through that port.

Likewise, if the 96W power bank changes direction and begins receiving power from the laptop, this suggests a USB-C power-role/PD negotiation issue rather than simply insufficient battery capacity. The exact PD profiles supported by the power bank are therefore important.

If the problem continues, please provide the exact make and model of the 96W power bank and the 100W GaN charger, along with their USB-C PD output specifications (for example, the listed voltage/current combinations such as 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 15V/3A, or 20V/5A). This will allow us to determine whether their PD profiles are compatible with the OMEN.

Since both chargers work fine with other laptops, it does sound like the OMEN is negotiating a lower USB-C PD profile for some reason. I’d check for BIOS and chipset/USB-C firmware updates first. The 50W limit with a 100W charger is definitely worth investigating before buying another charger.

1. BIOS is updated.
2. It's the same, and i don't need to charge my laptop when it's turned off - i want to use it with powerbank (100W btw, 96W is power delivered on other laptops)
3. What exactly i could, in your opinions, changed there? It's like standard respond, or you have knowledge what exactly types of options are there?
4. Nothing changed. Still, shouldn't it JUST WORK with charging my laptop? I had Firefox opened, it's not AAA gaming

I updated BIOS few days ago. Yeah, it's sound the same for me, but why HP laptop cannot negotiate better? xd
With other brands it's working perfectly fine, i have 3x the same powerbank, all the same.
