Hi @Saleah,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP 15s EQ2144AU laptop is not charging and you see a message about using the original adapter, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Check the Adapter and Cable:
- Ensure you are using the original charger that came with your laptop.
- Inspect the charging cable and adapter for any visible damage.
- Make sure the cable is securely connected to both the laptop and the power outlet.
Power Cycle the Laptop:
- Turn off your laptop.
- Disconnect the charger.
- Remove the battery if it's removable.
- Hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the battery (if removable) and the charger, then turn on the laptop.
Try a Different Outlet:
- Plug the charger into a different power outlet to rule out issues with the power source.
Check for Software Issues:
- Restart your laptop.
- Check for any BIOS or driver updates related to power management on the HP support website.
Battery Health Check:
- Run the HP Support Assistant tool to check the health of your battery and charging system.
- If you don't have the HP Support Assistant, you can download it from the HP Support website.
Inspect the Charging Port:
- Check the charging port on your laptop for any debris or damage.
Test with Another Charger:
- If possible, try using another compatible HP charger to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the charger or the laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
