Hi @Abelbeen,
Thank you for your reply!
The CMOS battery in most laptops, including the HP Omen 16, is typically located on the motherboard. It helps to power the CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) chip, which stores the system's BIOS settings, date, and time.
To replace the CMOS battery on the HP Omen 16, you'll need to follow these general steps:
Power Off: Make sure your laptop is powered off completely. Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery if possible.
Locate the Battery: The CMOS battery is usually a coin-cell battery (CR2032 type) and is commonly found on the motherboard. You might need to remove the back cover or access panels on the laptop to locate it.
Anti-Static Precautions: Before handling any internal components, it's a good practice to discharge static electricity. You can do this by touching a grounded metal object or using an anti-static wrist strap.
Remove the Old Battery: Carefully remove the old CMOS battery from its holder. You may need to use a small flat-head screwdriver or a similar tool to gently pry it out.
Install the New Battery: Insert the new CMOS battery into the holder with the correct orientation. The positive side of the battery should be facing up.
Reassemble: Put the laptop back together by reattaching the back cover or access panels. Make sure everything is securely in place.
Power On: Reconnect the power adapter and battery (if you removed it), and power on the laptop. The system should recognize the new CMOS battery, and you may need to reset the date and time in the BIOS settings.
It's important to note that opening your laptop and replacing internal components may void the warranty, so proceed with caution. If you're uncomfortable doing this yourself, consider seeking assistance from a professional technician or contacting HP support for guidance.
