Hi  @Gideon-Crawford

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how it must be to keep seeing a CMOS error even after resetting.Could you kindly share the exact HP laptop or desktop model you’re using?

Kindly confirm does the error appear immediately at startup, or only after the system has been running for a while and have you recently replaced the battery?

Here are few steps you can try:

1.Reset BIOS Settings

Corrupted BIOS settings can cause CMOS errors.

Press F10 during startup -Enter BIOS Setup

Choose Load Setup Defaults or Restore Defaults

Save changes and exit

2.Update BIOS Firmware

Outdated BIOS can conflict with hardware and trigger CMOS errors.

Visit HP Support  https://support.hp.com/ -Drivers & Downloads

Enter your product model

Download the latest BIOS update

Follow on-screen instructions to install

3.Run Hardware Diagnostics

Press F2 at startup -HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

Run a full system test

4.Check for System Date/Time Issues

Incorrect date/time is a sign of CMOS battery failure.

Go to Windows Settings -Time & Language -Date & Time

Ensure date/time is correct

If it keeps resetting, replace CMOS battery would be the solution .

I hope this helps.
