HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop - 15-dk1035nr

I have a Hp Gaming pavilion. Yesterday it started to crash with either a black screen with a white line across it or more recently making the screen red and freezing everything. It was doing this for a day but then it just stopped powering on at all. There is no lights at all. Does anyone know what happened or know how to fix it?

Hi @ OwnsAComputer50,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with the HP Gaming Pavilion. The unit started to crash with a black screen with a white line across it. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

  1. Check Power Connection:
    • Ensure that the power adapter is securely connected to both the laptop and a functional power outlet.
    • Try a different power outlet to rule out any issues with the current outlet.
  2. Power Reset:
    • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the laptop battery if possible.
    • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
    • Reconnect the power adapter (without the battery) and try turning on the laptop.
  3. External Display:
    • Connect your laptop to an external monitor to see if the issue is related to the laptop screen. If you get a display on the external monitor, it may indicate a problem with the laptop's built-in display.
  4. BIOS/UEFI Update:
    • Visit the official HP support website for your laptop model and check if there are any available BIOS/UEFI updates. Updating the system firmware might resolve compatibility issues.
  5. Memory and Storage Check:
    • Reseat the RAM modules and storage drive (if applicable). Make sure they are properly connected.
  6. Hardware Diagnostics:
    • Some HP laptops come with built-in hardware diagnostics. You can usually access this by pressing a specific key during startup (often ESC, F2, or F10). Run a comprehensive diagnostic test to check for hardware issues.
  7. Professional Assistance:
    • If your laptop is still under warranty, consider contacting HP support or taking it to an authorized service center for professional assistance.
  8. Data Backup:
    • If you have important data on the laptop, and if it's possible, consider removing the hard drive and connecting it to another computer to back up your data.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
