Hi @Astrarogue,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Did DTS:X Ultra or the DTS Audio Control Panel ever appear on your system after initial setup?
  • Are you seeing the “missing required driver” message only when downloading from the Microsoft Store, or also when trying to launch the app?
  • Have you recently updated Windows or the OMEN Command Center software?

In the meantime, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check HP Support Drivers
    • Visit the HP support website and enter your OMEN 16 model number.
    • Download and install the latest Audio drivers and OMEN Command Center updates provided specifically for your model.
  2. Update Windows
    • Go to Settings → Windows Update and ensure your system is fully updated. Sometimes DTS:X Ultra requires the latest Windows audio framework.
  3. Uninstall/Reinstall DTS:X Ultra
    • If the app is partially installed, uninstall it from Settings → Apps.
    • Then reinstall it from the Microsoft Store after updating drivers.
  4. Check Realtek Audio Console
    • Some OMEN models use the Realtek Audio Console instead of DTS Audio Control Panel. Please check if this is available in your Start Menu.
  5. Run HP Support Assistant
  • Open HP Support Assistant (pre-installed on most HP laptops).
  • Run a full check for driver and software updates it often resolves missing driver issues automatically.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Astrarogue,

Thanks for your repsonse.

Yes, the 2023 HP Omen 16 model supports DTS:X audio control.

Regarding the DTS:X Ultra and Realtek Audio Control for your OMEN 16 2023 model, here are few addtional steps you can recheck on:

Check Audio Driver and Software Updates:

  • Ensure that your audio drivers are updated. You can do this through the Device Manager on Windows or by using the HP Support Assistant that is often pre-installed on HP laptops to automatically update drivers.
  • Visit the HP support website to find any specific software updates for your model.

DTS Sound Configuration:

  • If you see DTS Headphone:X and DTS:X Virtual, it might mean that the software is set to virtualize surround sound for your speakers.
  • The presence of these options in the spatial sound settings indicates that your device may already have some level of DTS support. You might not need separate DTS:X Ultra software if the functionalities are already integrated into the current DTS Sound Unbound application.

Realtek Audio Control:

  • The Realtek Audio Control application can enhance the audio experience if it's supported. However, sometimes this software is not available directly from the Microsoft Store for all devices.
  • If you cannot download it, ensure your system's Realtek audio driver is the latest version as some functionality might be incorporated within the driver itself without requiring a standalone application.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead!

Hi @Astrarogue,

Thanks for your response.

Please note CPU 85–86°C → Normal & GPU 80–82°C → Normal OMEN 16 is designed to handle this.

Hi @Astrarogue,

Thanks for your response.

When gaming on the OMEN 16 2023 model, it's important to monitor the CPU and GPU temperatures to ensure optimal performance without overheating. HP provides guidance on temperature management for OMEN gaming laptops:

Safe Operating Temperatures:

  • The typical CPU temperature for Intel processors tends to be around a maximum of 97°C, while AMD R5000 series CPUs can reach up to 95°C before thermal management mechanisms kick in to lower the temperature.
  • GPU temperatures can vary, but in general, it's recommended to keep them within safe limits to avoid thermal throttling or system instability.

Temperature Indicators:

  • Green: Low to moderate temperature, indicating safe operating conditions.
  • Orange: Medium to high temperature, which may require caution.
  • Red: Approaching maximum temperature limits, potentially requiring intervention to prevent overheating.

Thermal Management:

  • Performance Mode in the OMEN Gaming Hub dynamically allocates power and adjusts the fan speed to balance performance and temperature.
  • Max Fan mode can be used to enhance cooling by running fans at their maximum speed.

Monitoring these temperature ranges can help maintain system performance and longevity. It's also advisable to ensure proper ventilation, regularly clean the laptop, and keep software updated through tools like the OMEN Gaming Hub to manage temperature efficiently.
