I can't find a way to disable HP Smart Adapter notifications, and they pop up for no reason no matter what I'm doing.

And another thing, windows asks me if the notification is a game when it pops up.

I haven't done any hardware changes, except the fact that my PC ran into a hard drive problem and I went to a store to fix it about a month ago.

I also haven't tried a different adapter.

Hi @NotAHackusator

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Try these steps -

1) C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP Quick Launch
2) Delete file HP CnbToaster.dll
3) Delete file HPUSRMSG.exe
4) Delete file HP Smart Adapter Help

If the issue still persists, try these steps -

1) Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).

2) Navigate to the Startup tab.

3) Find and expand HP Message Service.

4) Right-click HP SmartAdapter and select Open file location.

5) Delete the application that is highlighted.

Also, try updating the computer -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

The HP Quick Launch folder is missing from the Hewlett-Packard folder, and I also can't expand the HP Message Service in the task bar.

Are you using the same adapter sent with the computer? Have you tried updating the computer yet?

Let me know.

I am using the same adapter that has been sent with the computer, and I had just updated my PC.

I haven't recieved a pop-up today, so it might be fixed.

If it happens again, see if this suggestion works?

As far as the HP Quick Launch, Omens don't have that installed and it hasn't been used since the Windows 7 era.
