OMEN by HP 17-cb0006ng
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have updated to Windows 10 V 1909 with OS Build 18363.657.

Everything worked in the morning startup and then I did a quick restart and all of my Nvidia drivers got deleted. It is only using the Microsoft Basic Display Driver.

I can't install any Nvidia drivers because it doesn't detect a video card.

Device Manager doesn't even show a Display Adapter.

I have tried to reinstall the graphic drivers from the HP page after entering my serial and product number.

What happened? I know maybe factory resetting might work, but I would not like to go that route.

Or if I do, should I updated my Windows to the new version?

Respectfully,

Ivee Sanasinh

Welcome to HP Community

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Thank you for the reply.

Unfortunately, I have done all these steps before posting the problem. I scoured the internet and the forums and tried it all.

It came down to me calling a support center from HP after getting the number from a Virtual Chat.
They tried the same thing you explained and many of what the internet posted. I had to click SHOW HIDDEN DEVICE in device manager to see the RTX 2070 grayed out.

In the end, the contact person took over the computer remotely, typed a code in CMD Prompt. And the problem was that the PCIe port was missing. And that didnt show normally on my Device Manager until the call center wrote in that command line.

We uninstalled the PCIe adapter. Restarted. Windows reinstalled it. And finally the video card was detected and we reinstalled the drivers.

That's how it was fixed, by calling. It took forever to search for a phone number. Maybe this solution can help other people.
