Hey there, so I'm facing a problem regarding the flickering of the display from the right side of my laptop.

My laptop is one year old and in brand new condition without any other problem.

I'm thinking that this is drivers problem because when I shift it to discrete mode from hybrid in omen application,  the whole screen turns Black and flickering so much. It feels so annoying and I'm unable to do my work.

One thing more i noticed that whenever move the cursor in the screen even with a mouse the display flickers so much from the right side.

I have wireless mouse and if I'm not touching the table or laptop and just hovering the cursor it still flickers soo much.

So please help me telling that if this is a display issue or drivers issue..

Hi @Artries,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

A display flickering only on one side is typically caused by outdated graphics drivers, conflicting software, or a loose internal video cable. Start by checking if the Task Manager flickers. If it does, you likely have a software or driver issue; if it doesn't, a loose cable or failing screen is the probable cause.

Follow this step-by-step process to diagnose and fix the issue:

  1. Test with Task Manager: Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. If the rest of your screen flickers but the Task Manager window remains perfectly still, an incompatible or corrupted app is usually the cause. Uninstall recently installed third-party programs, particularly custom antivirus, screen recording, or game-overlay software.

  2. Refresh the Graphics Driver: Quickly reset your graphics card by pressing Win + Ctrl + Shift + B simultaneously. Your screen will blink and beep; check if the flickering stops.

  3. Roll Back or Reinstall Display Drivers: Driver glitches are a very common culprit for HP laptops.

    • Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.

    • Expand the Display adapters section, right-click your graphics card (e.g., Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD), and select Properties.

    • Navigate to the Driver tab and click Roll Back Driver (if available).

    • If rolling back isn't an option, select Uninstall device, check the box to "Delete the driver software for this device," and restart your laptop to let Windows automatically reinstall a fresh copy.

  4. Test the Screen at Different Angles: Gently tilt your laptop screen forward and backward. If the flickering intensifies or stops when moved to a specific angle, the issue is often a loose internal video cable (LCD ribbon) connecting the monitor to the motherboard.

  5. Connect an External Monitor: Plug your HP laptop into a TV or external monitor via HDMI or USB-C. If the external display shows a perfectly stable image while your laptop's screen still flickers, your laptop's physical display panel or internal cable is faulty.

    I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

Heyy sir I'm glad that you looked forward on my problem.

But sir as you said connect the external display via HDMI, the display on both the screen flickers or the external driver just get lags.

And sir one more thing I noticed that if i start it without plugin power the display flickers too much and if i shut down it and again start it with but this time with plugin power the display doesn't flickers at all

I have reinstalled both my intel and nvidia graphics drivers but sir there is still flickering.

One more thing sir I don't think this is a problem of display panel or loose cable maybe

Because where I ever i tilt the laptop or close or open its lid the problem remains the same.

Sir I'm very fed up with this issue and because of this i can't do my work properly

As you said because of any third party application I'll try that too.

But i have a question sir if i save my data in external hard drive and reset the laptop completely so that it starts from scratch will that work if not so then please tell me more options i really want to resolve this issue

And yess the screen flickers in task manager too that means its a software issue? Like a corrupted application is causing this problem? Right?

Please do tell me the solution sir

Thanku
