Hello guys,
Recently, this specific model of the HP Omen gaming notebooks (HP Omen 15-dc0030nr), attracted my attention as I was looking for a budget gaming laptop.
After a lot of research and looking up literally every video on Youtube and searching everywhere on google gathering info. I can finally say that this laptop is PERFECT.
Only for 1,189$ on both of Amazon and ebay, I can get a laptop rocking a 6 Cores Intel core I7-8750H processor and a Nvidia GTX 1060 (6GB) with 16 gigs of ram. With additional 128GB SSD and 1TB Hard HDD.
It has Thunderbolt 3, which makes it future proof as I can attach a video card to it in the future(right?). (Obviously, I would need that box which many companies make in order to cool it and run it, while using that Thunderbolt 3 cable.)
Also, something very unique, is the RGB lighting, which is why I am here actually. On amazon( the link is down), they mentioned the features that this specific model has, they mentioned both 1)Chassis Lighting and 2)4-zones RGB Keyboard, which are stuff that the GTX 1070 model doesn't have. I can't afford the 1070 anyways.
I went online, I looked up on HP's Website about how to enable the chassis and keyboard lighting (I didn't buy the laptop yet) just to know some more info. And I've noticed that my series doesn't have Chassis lighting, unlike what Amazon mentioned on their website. Which is very important for me.
I will provide links here:
The laptop on Amazon(check it, it has all info you might ask me): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CZCFGX8/ref=ox_sc_mini_detail?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2YLYLTN75J8LR
HP's page about the command center and what models support specific features: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05387497
On HP's page about the command center and what models support specific features, look at the "Omen Command Center Features" schedule, you will see that the "OMEN by HP 15-dc0xxx Notebook" lable series only support a 4-zones RGB lighting keyboard and they doesn't support Chassis lighting, which is not the same on Amazon.
I need the chassis lighting, I want to make my laptop what ever colour I want, for example, I want it to be Black and Lime Green from the back, and a Lime Green keyboard. I want to change it if I am bored from the colour Red.
This laptop is my dream, it is the best laptop that uses the GTX 1060 correctly, yeah, it might be a mid tier graphics card. But I am surprised that is can run most games on Ultra 60 fps.
Yes, it has kinda bad thermals. I am okay with that, because I am writing this right now using an HP Pavilion DV6, It is still up and running after almost 8 years when I bought it. HP is the brand which symbolizes Quality in the world of laptop manufacturing.
Also I can solve the thermals problem, by updating BIOS, undervolting, and maybe taking it to a HP licensed shop with professionals who can re-apply thermal paste for me. Also I can buy a cooling pad.
Well, it has a 512MB AMD Radeon graphics card, 4 gigs of ram, and a core I3 M350, and is kinda dusty from the inside. But still running, quite impressive.
Okay so sorry for going off topic. So my question remains; Does this specifc model of HP Omen 15-dc0030nr have full Chassis lighting and keyboard 4-zones lighting?
Either the HP website or Amazon is wrong, IF my laptop is considered from the OMEN by HP 15-dc0xxx Notebook series.
Thanks for reading this long article.
Thank you HP, very cool,
Commander_Cj

It would appear to me that someone (who ever it was, a salesman, some office worker?) who put that page of information together for Amazon posted what they found on the internet for generalized information. That graphics that shows chassis and keyboard lighting is what the OCC can potentially do, given the correct model. It should not have been used as specific to the model being sold by Amazon.
That photo of the OCC changing lighting on the lid will only work if you have the Omen X AP version laptop.
IF you have a laptop that does not offer a certain functionality, that functionality will not show in the OCC also.
For example, many people get confused about Overclocking. Laptops do not offer overclocking except certain versions of the Omen X AP model. But they see it in the list in the OCC from the internet and think theirs will do it too. So a lot of people get things confused (which I can understand), including someone sitting in an office at Amazon.
The only other actual Chassis RGB setup will be the new Omen X 25 with dual screen. But if you are having to be budget concious, it might not be for you.... https://www8.hp.com/us/en/gaming/laptops/omen-x-2s-15.html
Hope that helps.

Hello @Commander_Cj
So the only question is, does your keyboard have RGB and does the Chassis have RGB?
If so:
That keyboard is 4-Zone RGB. Its 4 separate zones of color, not to be confused with individual RGB keys that can color change. The Chassis does not have lighting, thats only on the Omen X series.
I do not see anything on Amazon's add that states differently other than the fact they called the keyboard Red Dragon which is not correct for 4-zone lighting.
Is this what you needed to know?

Greetings,
Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate the support here.
Yes, I want to know if this model which I am going to buy have RGB keyboard lighting and RGB chassis lighting.
Well, the thing is, you need to look at this picture which I've cut using the snipping tool first.
As you can see, I have underlined the important points. Up you can see the model which is "15-dc0030nr" and down you can see the "Additional features" tab, under it there is the checklist boxes which indicate that the model does have "Chassis Lighting".
Does that means it is a custom model or something?
Same question goes for this model too, please: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NDYBX4G/ref=psdc_13896615011_t2_B07H9XPF1S
The link above is for the RTX 2060 6GB Model, know as the HP Omen 15 (2019) or (15-dc1030nr).
It has the same specs as the 15-dc0030nr (I7-8750H,16GB RAM, 128GB SSD, 1TB HDD), but comes with the new RTX 2060 6GB.
You said that RGB Chassis only comes with the X Series, but this model has "exterior and interior RGB lighting" as they said under the "Omen Command Center" tab in the Amazon link I gave you above.
To summrize my long-discussion: These two models, have RGB Chassis lighting according to Amazon, but HP says only X Series got RGB Chassis lighting? Why is there is contrast between both Amazon and HP?
Endless appreciation,
Commander_Cj

I don't know why Amazon is interpreting the setup the way they are.
Perhaps you could tell me what you interpret Chassis Lighting to be? Then I can understand what you are looking for, because I have already given you my answer. HP says they only put chassis lighting in their X series. I have been on the forum for over 5 years now and have seen many versions of the Omen, so its not my first rodeo.
The only rgb lighting coming out of either of those models you linked is coming up from under the keyboard. Perhaps this is what Amazon thinks it is? There is no other lighting on the sides of the case, or on the lid (top cover).
If you choose to go with what Amazon says and it it does not live up to your expectations, its on Amazon. You will have to deal with them about it.

Hello,
By Chassis lighting, I want this exact tab. I like to make the colour of my laptop different when I want to if I am bored from red.
This photo is taken from one of the HP Omen guides, named: "How to customize the lighting on OMEN Computers and Peripherals."
I love this feature, I need it, it is one of the many reasons I chose this laptop.
Another wrong information, this is the RTX 2060 model page (15-dc1030nr):
Again they say they have exterior RGB lighting (chassis lighting)... What is wrong with them?
Um, I don't want to buy the X series because man they got some thick bezels and I am not really a fan of that design. Do you know any other HP Omen laptops you could suggest to me? with chassis lighting and a normal slim bezel?
I am most likely going to buy this RTX 2060 6GB one, it is a really huge improvement over the 1060 only for like 80$+, or maybe the 1060 if I don't have enough money for it.

Well, I guess I am going with either the 1060 or the RTX 2060 model. The dual screen omen X is way above my budget.
I liked the idea of the chassis lighting, but I suppose it is okay, no chassis lighting is way better than THICC size bezels.
Thanks for the information man, I highly appreciate it. And I am 99% going to buy an Omen.
I will accept your answer as a solution.
