OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-wd000 (755F6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have Omen Gaming Laptop 16-wd0063dx which has one HDMI 2.1 and one USB-C (5Gbps) as can be seen below.1.png

I have LG-Ultragear 27GP95R-B external monitor with capability of G-Sync. It has two HDMI 2.0 and one Display Port 1.4. So I know that for G-Sync to be enabled it must either be connected directly from display port to display port or an HDMI2.1 to HDMI2.1. Now the laptop doesn't have displayport so the first option is a no. Also, the monitor doesn't have HDMI2.1 so second option is also no. Although if display is connected over USB-C displayport cable, the G-Sync can be enabled. However, the trouble is when I connect the USB-C on my laptop, the display is connected to the Intel UHD instead of nvidia 4050 and I don't even see the settings in the control panel. take a look

So, is there any solution for this because I just purchased the **bleep** monitor 🙂

Try not to make a hard life even harder by overthinking 🙂

Hi @shoaibmughal84,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

To enable G-Sync on your Omen Gaming Laptop with the LG Ultragear monitor, you can use the USB-C connection, but you’ll need to ensure that it’s utilizing the NVIDIA GPU instead of the Intel UHD graphics.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you set this up:

Check the USB-C Connection:

  • Ensure you are using a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter/cable that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. This is crucial for sending video signals to your monitor.

NVIDIA Control Panel Settings:

  • Right-click on your desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel.
  • Go to Manage 3D Settings.
  • Under the Global Settings tab, make sure your Preferred graphics processor is set to High-performance NVIDIA processor.
  • Click Apply.

Setting the Monitor as Primary:

  • Right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings.
  • Scroll down to Multiple Displays and select your LG Ultragear monitor.
  • Set it as the Main Display if it isn't already.

Adjusting Resolution and Refresh Rate:

  • Still in the Display Settings, ensure that the resolution is set to the monitor's native resolution (e.g., 2560x1440) and the refresh rate is set to 144Hz (or the highest available).
  • If the refresh rate setting is not visible, try updating your graphics drivers.

Enable G-Sync:

  • Go back to the NVIDIA Control Panel.
  • Under Set up G-SYNC, check the box for Enable G-SYNC, G-SYNC Compatible.
  • Select the LG Ultragear monitor and apply the settings.

Testing:

  • Launch a game or use a G-Sync test tool to confirm G-Sync is functioning.

If you still have issues with the monitor defaulting to Intel UHD graphics, you might need to check the Device Manager to ensure that the NVIDIA GPU is functioning properly and that there are no conflicts with the drivers. You may also want to check if your laptop has an option to switch the GPU for specific applications, often found in the NVIDIA GeForce Experience settings.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
