Hi. I was wondering if my hp laptop supported hdmi to dp cable. My laptop is the HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2827no 15,6" Ryzen 5 5600h, RTX 3050ti mobile processor. 144hz screen.
I want to have a external screen because my laptop screen is too small. But can i use a cable that has hdmi on one side, into the laptop, and a displayport, into the minitor, and get 144hz and 1440p on the monitor?
Thanks for an answer and see you soon.

Yes, if you get that special cable or an equivalent with active circuit. I do not know if 144hz will work good at 4k resolution. You may have to go to 2k or a different refresh rate. Make sure you can return it not working they way you want.

You need a special cable as described here
https://pointerclicker.com/can-i-connect-hdmi-laptop-to-displayport-monitor/
I would read the reviews for this and you can also ask a question if you want
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G796JF8
I went through this with a used ThinkCenter monitor that was missing the DP cable. A cheap hdmi/dp adapter did not work and I had to buy a DP cable.

Your laptop has HDMI 2.0 and I have read that 2.1 has the most support for 144
The combination of resolution and refresh is the key. 144 at 2k is easier to do than 144 at 4k. The 2.0 HDMI may work but You should ask the vendor or users if 144 is supported. I would click on the 1 star reviews and see what type of problems. Also, make sure the return is not to a foreign country as some shipping is cheap only one direction and impossibly high on returns.
