Hi @Eszu,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing a sudden drop in FPS (frames per second) in games on your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15, there are several potential reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and improve the performance.

  • Check for Background Processes: Make sure there are no unnecessary background processes running that could be consuming system resources. Close any applications you're not actively using.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Visit the official website of your graphics card manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) and download the latest drivers for your GPU.
  • Power Settings: Check your power settings to make sure your laptop is set to high performance when gaming. Sometimes, laptops switch to power-saving modes to conserve battery life, which can affect gaming performance.
  • Temperature Monitoring: Overheating can lead to performance issues. Use software to monitor your laptop's temperature while gaming. If it's getting too hot, consider cleaning the cooling vents or using a cooling pad.
  • Adjust In-Game Settings: Lower the in-game graphics settings to see if it improves performance. You might need to compromise on some visual quality for smoother gameplay.
  • Windows Updates: Ensure that your operating system is up to date with the latest Windows updates. Updates can include performance improvements and bug fixes.
  • Malware and Antivirus Scan: Perform a thorough scan for malware and viruses. Malicious software can impact system performance.
  • RAM Usage: Check your system's RAM usage during gaming. If you have insufficient RAM, upgrading to a higher capacity may improve performance.
  • Disk Cleanup: Perform a disk cleanup to free up space on your hard drive. A full hard drive can affect system performance.
  • Game-specific Issues: Check if there are any known issues with the specific games you're experiencing problems with.
  • System Restore: If the issue started after a recent update or software installation, consider using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
