Hi, i have a HP Omen 17 ck laptop
my issue is that system fans stop working and rpm goes to zero during gaming sessions and this happens within minutes of opening games
Sometimes i get the 90B Fan Error
So after trying a new windows install and upgrading the bios and drivers the issue still happens
the fan can run at full power at lower tempratures when a game isnt running, but when when i open a game the fans turn off in minutes
I have already change the physical fan so i know it is not a physical issue
i saw on another forum that some people who had my issue with this same model laptop had solved it by installing the older version of the bios and this fan issue was a bug for them
i currently have F.14 bios with a 8/12/2025 date , and thats almost exactly the timetable of this issue for me
so i would appretiate if you gave me a link for the older F.12 version of the bios , i hope that would solve my problem because right now i have a 3000 Dollar gaming laptop that can not Game
Also on top of the link for the older bios version. i would like to know what i could do to figure out the next step of solving this issue if the Bios rollback/downgrade does not fix my problem

Hi @Matty987,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your OMEN 17-ck is shutting off its fans during gaming and sometimes shows a 90B Fan Error. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.
Reset OMEN Gaming Hub settings
Open OMEN Gaming Hub → Thermal Control.
Switch to “Default” or “Balanced” mode to remove any custom fan curve corruption.
Clear residual power and firmware states
Shut down the laptop → unplug the adapter.
Hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain static power.
Restart and test the fans again.
Check for EC/firmware conflicts
Fan failures during high load can happen when the Embedded Controller gets stuck.
A clean power drain often resets these controls.
Remove OMEN Gaming Hub and reinstall it
Uninstall OMEN Gaming Hub and the OMEN SDK package.
Restart → reinstall the latest version from the Microsoft Store.
Check for missing chipset/thermal drivers
Install the latest Intel/AMD chipset drivers from the HP support page for your exact 17-ck model.
Missing chipset or power management drivers can cause fans to shut down under load.
Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for the fan
Restart → tap Esc → F2 → Component Tests → Fan.
If it passes cold but fails hot, the issue is firmware-related or motherboard-side.
Try rolling back the BIOS if supported
In BIOS → Advanced → BIOS Rollback (if the option appears).
Choose the previous version if listed.
If it's not visible, HP has blocked downgrades for your current BIOS build.
I hope this helps.
