Hi,
I've only noticed recently (after an overheating) that my Omen has an issue with its fan speed. The default fan curve is way too slow but that seems to be a known issue, the problem here is that the fan won't respond to changes made in the gaming hub and indicates a fan speed of 0. After a restart it works for a while, until it stops at an unknown moment.
By all that I mean specifically:
-Fans follow commands (MAX or custom curve) from the gaming hub after a reboot and indicates the correct fan speed
-After a while, it stops displaying the RPM (either displays (0) or empty () ) and don’t respond to ANY fan commands made in the gaming hub. Note that the fans do spin, just not at the right speed
-Force closing every HP services (did not check if it’s only one in particular) and restarting the gaming hub seems to make it go back to normal
What I’ve tried:
-Reinstalling the gaming hub
-checked that gaming hub background services launch on startup
-updates
-cleaning my fans and heat sink
I realised all that too late and my PC is now out of warranty, and at some point the overheating got so bad that it messed up a few LEDs on the keyboard…
I would greatly appreciate some help,
Regards

Hi @BoB7655,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've been through a lot with this issue. Given what you've described, here are a few more things you could try to address the fan control problem on your OMEN laptop:
1. Update BIOS and Firmware Software and Drivers for OMEN by HP Laptop 17-ck2081xx (7G7M8AS)
Make sure your BIOS and any other firmware are up to date. Sometimes fan control issues can be resolved with a BIOS update. You can download the latest BIOS update from the HP support site for your model.
2. Check HP Support Assistant
the HP Support Assistant can help with system updates and drivers. Make sure it's updated and see if it detects any driver or system updates that could affect fan control.
3. Reset BIOS to Default
Resetting the BIOS to default settings might help if there are any misconfigurations affecting the fan controls.
4. Check for Conflicting Software
There might be other software running on your system that could be conflicting with the Gaming Hub. Check for any other system monitoring tools or fan control software and try disabling or uninstalling them to see if it helps.
5. Reinstall HP Services
Since force-closing HP services helps temporarily, you might want to try reinstalling all HP-related services. Sometimes a clean reinstall can resolve underlying issues.
6. Physical Check HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
Since overheating caused some hardware issues, ensure there’s no physical damage to the fan connectors or the fan itself. It’s worth checking the internal connections and ensuring everything is properly seated.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
