OMEN by HP - 17-an101na
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi all! Wanted to share and maybe gather some advice. Bought an Omen back in 2018 November on Black Friday sales in Argos(UK thing), just about months after my warranty expired the battery died, could no longer hold the charge. Obviously called up support to be told that my warranty expired and there is nothing they can do to help me. Not even supply me with a battery. I'm skilled with replacing batteries in laptops i've owned, even if they are built in. So having to search far and wide I found one battery, after it arrived I carefully followed instructions, yet it was faulty - so I was given a refund for my troubles, and asked to dispose of battery myself. Ever since then I have had my battery still inserted and plugged in, yet I had to use charger lead at all the times. And I mean - I tried anything to find out why isn't it holding charge, including bios checks and safe mode battery run to be told - my battery is weak.

After 3 years - suddenly - my battery says - fully charged 100%. SO I unplugged it and to my surprise - it didn't die - however it was short lived, and just after 5 minutes it passed out. Having turned computer back on - checking battery it still saying "weak battery, please change". So I plugged it back in and it says "plugged in and charging" which has not happened even once since battery died in first place. So I let it to get to 100%, unplugged it and voila - another 5 minutes before it died again.

Anyone else experienced this, and what should I do. I mean I paid pretty  large amount money for this laptop, it is still working very fine, in fact - it works brilliantly, except for fact that I have not had battery on this since, well, 2019.

Sorry, I can't explain why but my machine was the same. I did post on this forum.

After around 2 years, no life. I used HP Partsurfer, I could get it (back order) after few months for A$230. Too expensive I did not order new battery.

After 6 or 7 months it resurrected, then around 1 year later, it failed again.

I normally use my HP Omen once or twice a month. It is connected to an UPS now.

Regards.
